100% Reliable with smooth and devastating
power delivery
Rob Morley took the VTA engine in 1991 and re
engineered and re designed it into the successful engine it is
today. Every engine from 1991 to 2002 was hand built by Rob Morley.
Taking the original 1700cc engine and virtually
changing the complete specification including castings to produce
a 170 bhp 140 ft lbs standard engine.
Known as the MK2 VTA or VTB it was extensively
tested and it was soon apparent that it was 100% reliable with
smooth and devastating power delivery.
With the success of this new spec it was not
long before the Evante car owners became aware and then upgrading
to the new spec with awesome results.
The engine was then fitted into various Caterham
7’s. With the huge power/torque ratio it was a great success
with articles in CCC and various other marques.
Rob went on to develop the 190+ bhp 1596cc the
200+ bhp 1700cc carburettor and the 200+ bhp fuel injected 1700cc
racing variants.
All these specs are race proven.
