Ford X/Flow/ Pre X/Flow

Protune are masters in the X/Flow and Pre X/Flow department having endless success even today. This engine just goes from strength to strength. With all the years we have spent racing and developing various specifications we can honestly say that we have not had a single failure to date. As with all our engines we only use race proven parts that we have tested ourselves. We have won many races, championships and set lap records with our X/Flows and it is one of our favourite engines.

Our specs have proven reliability with superb drivability and deliver good smooth power and torque. In fact our 160+bhp 140 ft lb 1700cc spec cast engine has proven to be a drop in and play engine. We have built many of these and it is our most popular by far giving years of enjoyment with just regular servicing (engine oil, filter and tappet adjustment).

This spec is commonly used for race, hill climb sprint and it makes a fantastic road engine. We fitted this spec into a Caterham 7 and to date has done some 5,000 hard track miles in UK and Europe and is still going strong without any problems.

Caterham 7 owners have enjoyed years of trouble-free track and road usage from this specification.

We also offer all steel spec engines 180+ bhp for the more serious user or can build to your spec/budget.

Pre X/Flow

As with the X/Flow we have been building these for many years with the same success and results. At present we are still having outright race wins and outright lap records in the HSCC Historic Road Sports championship with the Lotus 7 S2 in the hands of Andy Shepherd. Andy has enjoyed years of race winning with Protune Pre X/Flow, X/Flow and Lotus Twin Cam engines as have many others.
